Travelling to Spain and within Spain

Travelling to Spain and within Spain

Extension number 6

Right now we're all still in a state of alert, state of emergency in Spain. This is the 6th extension to date. The biggest change that has been made in comparison to the other alarm phases is that the autonomous regions themselves are free to decide on the security measures. For the most part, we note that these are practically the same for all regions with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of its inhabitants.

Consencus

However, there is one point which applies to the whole of Spain, and that is the restriction on the free movement of all its inhabitants or anyone present on its territory. Until 21 June it is not yet allowed to travel outside your own province/autonomous region*. This means that in Spain one is not yet free to travel around unless this is for professional or other reasons and that one can legitimize this. A pre-booked day trip or weekend trip does not count.

*within the autonomous region one may travel if all provinces of that autonomous region are in the same phase.

What about travelling to Spain?

However, Spain is not on a par with Europe and wishes to keep its borders closed until 30 June, unlike other European Member States on 15 June. Ports by air, rail or water will remain closed, and by road the country's borders will be subject to checks to return and register incoming traffic. Nevertheless, Spain, under pressure from the EU, has decided to allow countries in the Schengen area back into its territory from 21 June (with the exception of Portugal).

We have learned through various channels that people have entered the country illegally by car. We just want to report that this involves legal risks and we recommend to respect the times that are set by Spain.
